Celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day
Annual FREE event at Icahn Stadium on Randalls Island – you can enjoy a traditional American dance performances and craft booths and storytelling. This year’s special guest artists: Nahko Bear,Robert Maribal, Raye Zarago, Peace Poets and Bethany Yarrow, and a special Sunrise Ceremony at 7am.

National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI)
Special all-day program on Monday with story-telling by local Native American groups, create a corn-husk doll. 11am to 4pm, plus special guided tours of the current exhibit on the history of the Taíno peoples Christopher Columbus encountered on the island Guanahaní on October 12, 1492.
Explore the exhibition, Taíno: Native Heritage and Identity in the Caribbean | Taíno: herencia e identidad indígena en el Caribe and meet with Jorge Estévez (Taíno) as he addresses common questions and myths associated with Columbus Day.

Native American Heritage Celebration
Celebrate the vast historic and contemporary voices of Native American groups of the Northeast region, including the Lenape and the Manhatta, with Tony Enos, 2018 Native American Music Award Nominee, who hosts a musical celebration of Native American past, present, and future! Bring your family for stories, music, exploration of objects like wampum, animal fur and hides, and create a cornhusk doll to take home. At the Museum of the City of New York, Monday, 11am to 3pm.

Columbus Day Parade
Over one million spectators watching over 130 marching groups including bands, floats and cultural groups.
On October 8, 2018, Fifth Avenue will be transformed during the Columbus Day Parade, the world’s largest celebration of Italian-American culture. The parade will be led by Grand Marshal Guy Chiarello, President of First Data Corporation.
The Jewish Museum
Columbus Day Drop-In Art Workshop – For kids, to discover striking portraits and create self-portraits or portraits of family members using a variety of painting materials. 1pm to 4pm.
Gallery Tours – FREE docent-guided (daily) for adults (included with admission) of the museum’s two current exhibits, on Chagall and other Avant-Garde artists during the 1918 Russian Revolution, and Scenes from the Collection.
The Jewish Museum offers FREE admission on Saturdays, year-round, and FREE admission year-round for children and teens to age 18.
